Swedish: Borgholms slott
Visit to the tourist attraction of Sweden - Borgholm Castle: in the late 1100s built a mighty tower as a defense castellum, which soon was surrounded by a wall and the stronghold was built in the 1200s.
The stronghold was built in the latter part of the 13th century and should have been completed in 1281. The King John III was ordered the reconstruction of Borgholm into a renaissance castle. After Kalmar War in 1613, it was damaged. From 1651 the rebuilding of the castle Nicodemus Tessin the Elder was the architect engaged. Charles X Gustav was the king who ordered this. The castle was to be turned into a baroque palace. On 14 October 1806, the castle was turned into a ruin by a fire.
