The collection includes about 100,000 objects. The development of the Swedish military aircraft - from the air-beginning and to today's JAS 39 Gripen - is described in one of the Air Force Museum's basic exhibitions. The exhibition is divided into eras Pioneers, Between the Wars, and Readiness, but also contains a summary of aviation technology. The 34 aircrafts shown are is in the halls, and for each epoch also described what happened in Sweden and in the rest of the world, how the threat looked and how the Swedish defense and defense industry responded to the threat. The basic exhibition If The War Comes is the story of how Sweden prepared for a war that never broke out, but the world was waiting for and prepared for over four decades. In the museum has the JAS 39 Gripen flight simulator.
