In the gift letter of the Danish King Canute the Holy, dated 21 May 1085, talks about a cathedral built in the 1080s. Lund University was inaugurated in the Cathedral, 28 January 1668. The cathedral was the university's main teaching and meeting room at until the end of the 17th century. In the Lund Cathedral there is an astronomical clock: Horologium Mirabile Lundense.
